The Tale of the Shepherd Boy
Deep within the mesmerizing rolling fields, dwelt a young shepherd. His existence was essentially untarnished, simple, and honest. His main role was mainly to care for his flock of rams.
Their low murmuring and the whispering of the wind through the lone tree on the hilltop were his only co-dwellers. Day in day, guarding his responsibilities imbued in him a notion of calm satisfaction.
However, there were at times moments of loneliness, when the shepherd boy would long for fellowship. In one such instance from sheer boredom, the shepherd boy orchestrated a troublesome plan.
Stories of wild beasts prowling on sheep had been heard times and again in the village. So, the boy decided to used this fear and check here played a joke on the townsfolk.
One morning he ran into the village screaming “Wolf! A wolf is that has taken my sheep!” The scared villagers ran up the hills for rescue but discovered no wolf.
The boy laughed at the dilemma on their faces. This prank persisted for a few days more. But, one day, a real wolf actually attack the flock. The shepherd boy ran for help, screaming “Wolf, Wolf!” But this time, no one responded.
Frustrated and alone, the boy struggled against the wolf but managed to rescue only few of his flock. Heartbroken, he went back to the town only to receive a scolding on honesty and the consequences of false alarms.
The story of this shepherd boy has been handed down generations as a mediaeval parable for teaching the value of honesty, the implications of dishonesty and the risks of crying wolf. Moreover, it highlights how trust once lost, is tough to reclaim. It's a story as pertinent today as it was in the past.
